My New Year’s Resolution

My new year’s resolution is to waste less food. Lately I have become more aware of the huge waste of food around me. Lots of perfectly edible food is daily thrown away and I no longer want to be a part of it. That’s why I have made “less food waste” my new year’s resolution. This means better control over grocery shopping, weekly menu planning and taking care of leftovers. Another important thing is not to let food turn bad but instead to dry, preserve, freeze or cook it before that happens.

When we throw away food in our house it is mainly leftovers that has not been eaten or vegetables that has gone bad inside the refrigerator before we have had the opportunity to cook them. This of course is due to bad planning and lack of commitment. Although we are already quite aware in this area, we can certainly improve and I hope that I will be able to give a few tips and tricks, here on the blog, on how to waste less food. I am thinking of sharing ideas for how to create new recipes from your leftovers, what to do about all the fruit and veggies that are starting to go bad inside your fridge and other ideas that will be invented on the way.

The words in the picture above are not my words but when I came across them I decided to make them my own. I use these words as a guidance and I see them every day on the wall inside my kitchen. Wish me good luck with this year’s resolution!
